Dear 6th Grade Families,
The TREP$ Marketplace is one week away! At this point, business plans are finalized, materials have arrived, the adbook is in production, and students have made their plans to finish their products. I wanted to share some important information with you regarding the coming week.
Before Wednesday: Students should finish their products and any displays or signage. There are sign-ups for using on-campus spaces after school on 12/1, 12/5, and 12/6 if students want to work here, or they can work at home. Please note that due to food safety regulations and allergen concerns, all food-related businesses are required to make their products on campus with the mentorship of Chef Alex.
Businesses are student led. It is ok for family to help with production (small business owners often get help from family!), but any parental help should be at the student’s direction and with the student present. As a reminder, this is an ungraded learning experience, and the profits go to charity. Students can use items from home to decorate their tables; these do not count towards their “budget” as long as they were not bought specifically for the event.
Attire: Students should either dress professionally or themed to their business.
Shopping: Students should bring cash if they want to shop at their peer’s businesses.
12/7 Schedule:
Morning through recess: Normal schedule
12:30-1:15 Setup, receive small bills from treasurer for making change
1:15 Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony
1:30-3:45 Student and Faculty Shopping
3:45-4:30 Family and Friends Shopping
4:30-5:00/5:30* Clean up and cash out
The expectation is that all students will stay Wednesday, December 7 until their business is cleaned up, their inventory form is completed, and their money is counted and submitted. While we hope to have everyone out by 5pm, we have not held this event before so it may take longer. If your child has to leave early, please let me know. Family and friends are encouraged to shop (cash only) once the buses roll on Wednesday.
